Find a Workout Partner!

Working out is something that we all tend to have a love/hate relationship with. We hate the process of getting off the couch, putting on our sneakers, going to the gym, and spending the next hour and a half sweating. However, we love the feeling afterwards, the energy we receive from it, and the results we get. The happiness we receive when we start to see those lines develop on our abdomen, or when those too-tight jeans suddenly become too loose is like no other feeling.

What we could all use a little more of is motivation. Motivation to get in shape, motivation to eat right, motivation to improve our general health. When we workout alone it is easy to say to ourselves, “I am tired today, one day off won’t hurt.” But that is false! While one day might not be enough to completely change our body, what it does do is hurt our routine, and make our consistency, well, inconsistent! Find a workout buddy and help each other stay in line. Workout partners are a great way to maintain your exercise routine because when you flake out not only are you letting yourself down, but you are letting down a friend as well. The extra push and motivation from your buddy will help you keep up with your regime, and will make going to the gym and working out all the more enjoyable!

In addition to a workout buddy, start taking group exercise classes, like a fitness boot camp class. Being in a room with a number of other people all with similar goals as you is motivation in and of itself. You are all working hard, and you are all working towards the same goal—getting in shape and healthy! Group exercise is a great way to spice up your workout routine and make some friends along the way!
