The Mr. Olympia competition features the best bodybuilders in the world, and was created by Joe Weider . The first Mr. Olympia took place in 1965. This competition is now held by the International Federation of Bodybuilders and has come to be considered the very highest accolade that a professional bodybuilder can achieve. Arnold Schwarzenegger is probably the most famous winner of Mr. Olympia, going on to star in many Hollywood blockbusters and then as the Governor of California. Mr. Olympia is still the premier bodybuilding competition and is well regarded by the bodybuilding community. Mr. Olympia results have been controversial at times as in any other professional sports.

Ms. Fitness Olympia

The Ms Fitness Olympia title was added in 1980 so that women could compete as bodybuilders. Ms. Fitness Olympia helped female bodybuilding go mainstream and for a few years it was even broadcast by NBC.

World Gym counts several past Mr. Olympia winners among its alumni, including the most recent winner, Dexter Jackson.
